Live at Synch 2010
Recorded at Synch Festival in Athens Greece
Avant-garde electronica, sonic experiments and dreamy ‘walls of sound’. Welcome to the world of Fennesz!
Rather enveloping, dreaming or sparse, Christian Fennesz has been quietly painting fuzzy layers of sound for many years. On respected avantgarde labels like FatCat or Vienna’s treasured Mego imprint, this Austrian’s sonic experiments have drawn on a legacy that ranges from the lush noise-pop of _(artist-name)My Bloody Valentine_ to Phil Spector’s “wall of sound” techniques for _(artist-name)The Beach Boys_. Mighty figures such as _(artist-name)Ryuichi Sakamoto_ and _(artist-name)Jim O’Rourke_ agree - they both collaborated with _(artist-name)Fennesz_ since the early 90s. A notorious out-of-the-box thinker and member of the Viennese underground rock group Maische in the eighties, he has collaborated with people as diverse as former _(artist-name)Faith No More_ vocalist and Ipecac mastermind _(artist-name)Mike Patton_, fellow VIE sound scientist _(artist-name)Patrick Pulsinger_ and British songwriter legend _(artist-name)David Sylvian_.
