The man, the myth, the blastmaster. Hip hop’s finest storyteller breaks down his peerless career. Fresh for...ever, you suckaz!
Welcome to the temple of hip hop. A classic story of hip hop history writing brought forth one of the genre’s most style defining cultural icons and trusted moral authorities. Growing up in the Boogie Down Bronx, young Lawrence Krisna Parker spent most of his time running away from home, writing rhymes and engaging in some serious neighbourhood improvement smearing KRS-1 in huge letters on walls and trains. Going from strength to strength as an MC but also from shelter to shelter searching for a roof over his head, _(artist-name)KRS-One_ stumbled over then social worker _(artist-name)Scott La Rock Sterling_. Together with part-time members including _(artist-name)D-Nice_, _(artist-name)Jamalski_ or _(artist-name)Ms. Melodie_, they founded the mighty _(artist-name)Boogie Down Productions_, settled the score with _(artist-name)Marley Marl_’s _(artist-name)Juice Crew_, and pointed hip hop to new directions with hardcore lyrics and a distinctive Jamaican bashment attitude. After Scott La Rock’s tragic passing, KRS-One kicked the gun talk in favour of a more socio-political approach, which had the “Teacha” reign supreme over nearly the whole of the 90s with classic LPs like _(album-title)Return Of the Boom Bap_ and _(album-title)I Got Next_. By teaming up with fellow legends like _(artist-name)Showbiz_, former arch enemy Marley Marl and the Duck Down underground powerhouse, KRS-One managed to stay relevant up to this very date. As they say, the rest is history. Brace yourself, KRS-One attacks!
