The Robert Glasper Experiment take their psyched-out vocoder jazz and futuristic soul down under to Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory.

The _(artist-name)Robert Glasper Experiment_ is _(artist-name)Robert Glasper_’s outfit for all things beyond your traditional jazz standards and grooves. Nowadays one of the ringleaders guiding jazz into new realms, Robert was brought up in Texas listening to his mother sing gospels at the local church and watch her trawl the blues club circuit. By the time he reached adolescence however, he had watched and listened enough and soon moved to New York to pursue his dream of becoming a successful jazz musician. Fresh off the boat, he hooked up with future band member Reid and dorm roommate _(artist-name)Bilal_, who he worked with on various occasions up until and including his fifth and current album _(album-title)Black Radio_. Ever since his debut _(album-title)Mood_ astounded listeners and critics alike, Robert has served as the musical curator of album projects by the likes of _(artist-name)Kanye West_ and _(artist-name)Q-Tip_, and collaborated with _(artist-name)Erykah Badu_, _(artist-name)Talib Kweli_, _(artist-name)Meshell Ndegeocello_, _(artist-name)Karriem Riggins_, and _(artist-name)Mos Def_ amongst others. Over the years, Robert has developed an outstanding ability to please the Wynton Marsalises of this world with the rather true school jazz of his _(artist-name)Robert Glasper Trio_, just as the Detroit rap and _(artist-name)Soulquarians_ aficionados, using the Experiment as his playground for fooling around with synthified soul and effect pedals, Dilla-isms or vocoder versions of _(artist-name)Radiohead_ and 90s grunge classics. You get the picture.
