The Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble with their own brand of acoustic techno. Live on stage at RBMA Thursdays in Montreux.
Academy grad _(artist-name)Daniel Brandt_ got started in electronic music after playing the drums in several jazz, rock and pop bands, as well as classical orchestras. With his close friend _(artist-name)Jan Brauer_, he started the duo _(artist-name)Scott_, who made it look easy to produce deep jazz-influenced club tunes for forward-thinking dancefloors. But it was when they met modern classical composer _(artist-name)Paul Frick_ that really sparked their imagination, and the three of them started the exploratory _(artist-name)Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble_. They build on a basis of live acoustic instruments and electronic sounds, creating their own kind of acoustic techno. Prepared piano, vibraphone, synths, rhodes, drum kits and bass guitars are all mixed to walk the fine line between club and concert hall. Having released records on Danish label Tartelet Records, the Doppelschall offshoot The Gym, and most recently, Studio !K7, the three show no signs of slowing down.
