The principles of coexistence: The xx connect the dots with a selection of favourites from Lauryn to FlyLo, and Brody Dalle to Burial.

_(artist-name)The xx_ started out as four precocious youngsters from South West London: Jamie Smith, Oliver Sim, Romy Madley-Croft and Baria Qreshi, providing the hushed minimal strokes of _(artist-name)Young Marble Giants_ and early _(artist-name)The Cure_ but through the minds of a young band obsessed with the r&b turns of Ciara and Aaliyah. In fact they went so far as to cover the latter’s _(song-title)Hot Like Fire_ as the b-side for their first single _(song-title)Crystalised_, and were picked up after recording a sensational version of Womack And Womack’s _(song-title)Teardrops_. Signed to Young Turks, the band had recorded with a host of the finest producers before settling with the option of recording at XL Recordings’ in-house studio, the debut album _(album-title)xx_ was eventually produced by the band themselves, creating a lasting impact on the music scene around the world. Shrunk to a three-piece by late 2009, 2012 saw Romy, Jamie and Oliver return with their sophomore album _(album-title)Coexist_ to much acclaim.
